Eche’Ofun urges Benue to emulate Nasarawa development strides
Mr Emmanuel Eche’Ofun John, Special Adviser on Media to Sen. Abba Moro, Senate Minority Leader, has expressed concern over what he described as the negative reports emanating from Benue.
Eche’Ofun, in a statement on Friday, said it was “disheartening and saddening” that Benue had continued to make headlines for what he described as the activities of a few individuals.
He said his recent experience while passing through Lafia, Nasarawa State, on his way back to Abuja had drawn his attention to what he considered a noticeable difference between the two neighbouring states.
“There’s a sharp and visible difference between Benue and Nasarawa, and I strongly feel our energy in Benue should be on how to replicate the ‘Nasarawa wonders’ in the state instead of the embarrassing reports coming from there all the time,” he said.
Eche’Ofun said the state needed to channel its collective energy towards development rather than political activities that, according to him, had yet to translate into meaningful development for the people.
“There’s so much bad energy in my dear state just because of politics that hasn’t translated into any meaningful development,” he said.
He called for a shift in focus towards issues capable of improving infrastructure, economic opportunities and the general wellbeing of the people.
The media aide urged political actors and other stakeholders in the state to prioritise development and work towards changing the narrative about Benue.
