The Committees on the implementation of the decisions of the meetings of the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (JNPSNC) on welfare issues of workers referred to the National Council on Establishments (NCE) have been inaugurated.
The Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare Office, Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack inaugurated the two Committees on Wednesday, 27th March, 2019 in Abuja. The Committees are Technical Committee to Enrich and Fine Tune Memoranda Approved by the JNPSNC for Consideration of the NCE and the Committee to Examine the Issues Raised in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) on Trade Union Commitment to Observing a Congenial Approach in Resolving Grievances, Disputes and Demands on behalf of Workers in Public Service.
Mrs. Walson-Jack charged the Committees to cooperate with all relevant Stakeholders in ensuring that due diligence is followed in the discharge of their areas of engagements in accordance with the Terms of Reference given to them. She enjoined them to bring their expertise and experiences to bear in enriching Memoranda submitted to NCE.
The Director, Employee Relations and Welfare, OHCSF, and the Chairman of the Committee to Examine the Issues Raised in the OHCSF on Trade Union Commitment to Observing a Congenial Approach in Resolving Grievances, Disputes and Demands on Behalf of Workers in Public Service, Mr. Alfred Abah assured the Permanent Secretary of the Committees commitment to deliver on their mandates in keeping to the stipulated Terms of References.
The inauguration ceremony is in fulfillment of some of the decisions of the Joint Negotiating Council meeting held in Bayelsa State from 24th to 28th November, 2018, where the two Committees were constituted.
The Committees are expected to complete their assignments and submit their reports and recommendations within three (3) weeks from the date of inauguration.
