The Federal Government has organized a 5-day workshop for Federal Civil Servants across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) on Survey Design, Data interpretation and reporting. The initiative is part of effort to have a Service where government decisions are taken based on correct data analysis. The decision is in line with the Service in line with the ‘Establish an Enterprise Content Management Solution’ in the 2017-2020 Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan.
The training workshop was organized by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation from Tuesday 11th to Saturday 15th June, 2019 in Abuja.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita in her remarks said the essence of the workshop is to enable Civil Servants make good use of data collections and analysis in the implementation of projects and take data driven decisions that will translate to effective service delivery.
Mrs. Oyo-Ita stated that the training will equip Civil Servants with technical know-how to assist government in making sound decisions from available data.
She affirmed that the Service is endowed with a crop of Civil Servants who have the requisite skills and expertise to drive the service when given the opportunity. She confirmed that the training will equip civil servants with necessary skills that will enable them perform optimally in the discharge of their duties and save government funds spent in the engagement of consultants.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation also approved the purchase of the license for the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software that will fast track the data collection and analysis project.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Service Policies and Strategies Office in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Magdalene Ajani congratulated the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation for organizing the workshop which will go a long way to reposition the service for effective service delivery.
