In a major stride toward environmental sustainability and climate action, a delegation of young leaders from the National Scout Organization (NSO), The Scout Association of Nigeria (TSAN), has successfully completed the specialized Scout Go Solar training, officially earning the prestigious international Scout Go Solar Badge.
This milestone reinforces the organization’s growing commitment to renewable energy and equips these newly minted ambassadors to spearhead eco-friendly initiatives across the country.
The Scout Go Solar project, a global partnership within Scouting, focuses on educating young people about the power of renewable energy. Having mastered the core concepts of solar energy and climate advocacy, Nigeria’s new Scout Go Solar Ambassadors are now certified to deliver hands-on solar energy workshops to local scout troops and schools, mobilize communities to adopt sustainable, eco-friendly energy practices and lead grassroots climate action projects that align with global sustainable development goals.
The milestone was made possible through the continuous backing of the TSAN national leadership. Participants and coordinators expressed deep appreciation to the Chief Commissioner, Dr. Zack Ekanola, JP, whose unwavering support and dedication to youth development remain the driving force behind the association’s modern, impact-driven programs.
“This achievement marks another important step in strengthening our commitment to environmental sustainability,” a spokesperson for the NSO stated. “Our newly certified ambassadors are now equipped to inspire and educate more young people on building a greener and more sustainable future.”
Od morning sirWith these new solar champions in the field, TSAN continues to demonstrate that scouting is not just about tradition, but about actively empowering young people to create a better, cleaner world.
