The Kano State Fire Service on Tuesday said it received 106 distress calls from different parts of the state within the last two weeks.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the service, Alhaji Saidu Mohammed, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano.
Mohammed noted that the calls emanated from collapsed buildings, rescue, road crashes and fire disasters.
Giving the breakdown, the PRO said 40 calls were received for fire incidents, 48 calls for rescue, 16 false alarms while two were on collapsed buildings.
Mohammed, therefore, advised the public to always be cautious of the use of electrical appliances.
He also charged citizens to avoid storing petrol and other inflammable substances in shops and homes. (NAN)
