The Hon. Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr Tunji Alausa with his team of entourage today paid a courtesy visit to Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria (IHVN) Campus.
The Minister toured our laboratories, including the biorepository and genomics laboratory and we discussed HIV/TB program implementation activities as well as research.
He praised the Institute’s infrastructure as being of “international standard,” and called for diversification of our research portfolio to address non-communicable diseases which are now, “the biggest burden in the country.”
The Hon. Minister also promised to support the Institute in expanding partnerships to carry out research of benefit to Nigerians.
The CEO, Dr Patrick Dakum, Chief Operating Officer/Managing Director, Dr Charles Mensah and the Executive Director of the International Research Center of Excellence (IRCE), Prof. Alash’le Abimiku were among who received the Minister.
Dr. Dakum pledged the Institute’s commitment to supporting the government’s initiatives and strategic direction.
