The Honourable Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Hajia Aisha Abubakar has paid glowing tribute to a former secretary, Mrs. Comfort Nwachukwu who left the Service recently. Hajia Abubakar gave this honour to the retiree in a surprise sent forth organized for the former staff in the Minister’s office.
She described Mrs. Nwachukwu as a diligent secretary with outstanding qualities, saying “Anytime you are in charge of things in the office, I always knew, even without being told because of the way you handled things, right from the entrance of the building, I always felt your presence because of the fragrance that you asked them to spray around the office. You always knew what I want and I thank you very much.”
The Minister prayed God to help her in her future endeavour, while urging her to feel free to come to her anytime she needs her assistance. Hajia Abubakar expressed optimism that Mrs. Nwachukwu was going to do well because of a project she was working on, adding that when patented, it would be of use to everyone.
The then Acting Permanent Secretary and Director, PPRS Mr. Ogenyi Ochekpe described Mrs. Nwachukwu as a friend and sister in the Lord, because of her diligence and the fact that she attends the same Church with him. He affirmed that she was committed to her official duties, just as she was to her Church activities.
Mrs. Seyi Oshikanlu, the Special Assistant (SA), Special Duties to the Honourable Minister who spoke on behalf of the Special Assistants (SAs) described the retiree as a “Mother whose wise cancelling had helped” her on her job. She recalled a particular occasion when Mrs. Nwachukwu’s advice helped her to resolve an issue. Mrs. Oshikanlu thanked the celebrant for her unalloyed support to the SAs.
The Chief Confidential Secretary to the Honourable Minister who was highly emotional on the occasion expressed gratitude to God for the period she worked with Mrs. Nwachukwu, adding that she was going to miss her.
Other staff of the Honourable Minister of State’s office who took turn to speak, praised Mrs. Nwachukwu for her friendly disposition towards others. They also urged her to feel free to approach them whenever she needs their assistance.
Responding, Mrs. Nwachukwu who was over-whelmed with joy, thanked the Honourable Minister for the honour done her. She also showed appreciation to the Acting Permanent Secretary and the staff for their show of love. The retiree said she was grateful to God for giving her the opportunity to serve in the Federal Civil Service and retire without any blemish.
Mrs. Nwachukwu was presented with gifts from the Honourable Minister and her colleagues in the Minister’s Office.
