NAN Management felicitates with Prof. Gambari over appointment as Buhari’s CoS

Abuja, May 13, 2020(NAN) The Management of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday felicitated with the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, over his new appointment as Chief of Staff to the President (CoS).


In a congratulatory message addressed to Prof. Gambari, the acting Managing Director of NAN, Alhaji Biola Lawal, said Gambari’s appointment was a clear testimony of the President’s confidence in the scholar and seasoned diplomat.
He said: ”The appointment is indeed a testimony to the confidence the President has in you, especially at a critical time like this when the whole world, including our country, is being troubled by a pandemic.
”Your assumption of office is, therefore, a call to assist the President lift the country to higher level with matured counseling and recommendations borne out of your wealth of experience as a successful Administrator, Diplomat and Humanitarian Service Provider.”
Lawal assured that NAN, Nigeria’s most credible media outfit and largest news content provider, would continue to support and promote all government programmes meant to uplift the quality of life of all citizens across the country.
”We assure you of our continuous commitment to assist your high office and the Presidency in general through professional projection of the efforts to make Nigeria a better place for all.
”We congratulate you and pray that almighty Allah will assist you to achieve a resounding success as Chief of Staff,” he added.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, had on Wednesday formally presented Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, to members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) as the new Chief of Staff to the President.
Gambari, who was Buhari’s foreign affairs minister and confidant as military Head of State in the 1980s, replaced Malam Abba Kyari, who died last month of COVID-19.
NAN reports that the new Chief of Staff, an Ilorìn prince, has since assumed work. (NAN)
