The Director General, NBC, Mall. Is’haq Modibbo Kawu, at the ongoing management retreat in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria welcomed all to the 2nd day of the retreat.
In his presentation titled “The Role of the Regulator”, Mr Kawu pointed out that, legislative support is very critical to the switch over from analogue to digital terrestrial television broadcasting.
He said, “by interrogating the process, the Members of the National Assembly put the Commission on her toes in ensuring a thorough transition”.
He stated further that the NBC is working within its mandate to give access to television broadcasting to the people of Nigeria by employing new technology.
“What we see with the deployment of the new technology using the set top boxes in terrestrial broadcasting, actually enhances and gives a new perspective and a new platform because there is a lot of opportunity for interactivity”.
The NBC is taking advantage of the new technology for easy access to terrestrial television broadcasting to various segments of the populace.
