The New Partnership for Africa’s Development, NEPAD Nigeria, has called on investors to take advantage of the repositioning efforts of the National Coordinator and CEO,Princess Gloria Akobundu,in the Agency to engage it for the facilitation of business partnerships among Organisations,Development Partners,Finance Institutions and individuals.
Making the call today in Calabar during the Summit of the Presidential Initiative on Niger Delta Agricultural and Industrial Development Initiative,representative of the NEPAD Nigeria CEO, Mr E.E Abang,who is also the Director, Programmes Development and Implementation, NEPAD Nigeria,said the Agency has in its researches identified some of the encumbrances to the free flow of investments in Nigeria and has,therefore, gone all out to seek ways to create an enabling environment for business relationships and investments to thrive in the country.
According to the CEO,one of the ways to achieving the above, is to establish a data base for business and investment documentation needs and places of domicile,which will enable would-be investors access whatever information they need at the click of a button. She added that the need for such information for planning and decision-making was necessary for anyone who would choose to invest in the States across the country.
The CEO also used the occasion to inform investors of the ongoing plans to bring all serious investors to a roundtable dinner in Abuja,where investors from across the continent would have the opportunity not only to meet one another,but to receive all available information critical to investing in Nigeria.The event,which is scheduled for November 2nd in Abuja is a collaboration between NEPAD Nigeria and some selected MDAs.
Earlier speaking,the Governor of Cross River State,Sen.Prof.Ben Ayade,had called on investors to consider investing in the State,which he said possesses the best investment climate across the country,including tax holidays/exemptions, evacuation corridors for products and a welcoming,peaceful population.Also,speaking, Pastor UsaniUguruUsani,Minister of Niger Delta Affairs and past Commissioner in the State,said the Ministry and the Presidency were prepared to offer all support to make investments in the Niger Delta friendly and successful. He said the case of the inter-States road infrastructure between Cross River State and the neighbouring Akwa Ibom State had been addressed by the Federal Executive Council and awarded already for rehabilitation.
Also present at the event were the Honourable Minister of State,Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Prof. Claudius Daramola,heads and representatives of NEXIM,Bank of Industry, Bank of Agriculture, NIRSAL,Sovereign Wealth Investment Authority,the NNPC and many private Companies and Organisations, that made presentations for themselves and their Organisations.
