The National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer, NEPAD Agency Nigeria, Princess Gloria Akobundu has lauded the ongoing partnership for initiatives on food and nutrition between Nigeria and the people of Japan, describing it as an opportunity for the two countries to learn from each other in that area.
Princess Akobundu, who stated this, Tuesday, in Abuja during a courtesy call in her office by the Consultant of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Nigeria, Mr KoidiroWatanabi, who was in her office to solicit the partnership and cooperation of NEPAD Agency Nigeria on their coming workshop, also promised her guest that NEPAD Nigeria would strive to explore all available contacts and resources at her disposal to make the partnership and collaboration work for the benefit of the Nigerian people, who, she observed, were in dire need of every bit of knowledge required to achieve food and nutritional security in the country.
MrWatanabi, who described NEPAD as a key Agency in the country for the delivery of JICA’s mandate in Nigeria, also, informed the NEPAD Nigeria CEO of the already existing partnership with the Ministry of Budget and National Planning. The JICA Consultant said he had come to identify and interact with the Management of NEPAD Nigeria in order to achieve the necessary partnership and cooperation that would ensure a resounding success of JICA’s coming workshop.
In his words: ‘‘Food and Nutrition is a flagship programme of JICA, which is domiciled here in Nigeria and in nine other countries. We, at JICA, intend to have a workshop here and it’s only natural that as a Consultant to the Agency, I meet and interact with all Organizations with which we intend to work to achieve results’’
