In the bid to also key into the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan of the Buhari Administration, the Imo State Government and the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) have concluded plans to collaborate and develop programmes that will bring about economic growth and development in Imo State.
Speaking to newsmen in her office after a meeting with the representative of the Imo State Government, Prof. Edna Matthews-Njoku, the Special Assistant to Imo State Governor on Inter-Governmental Affairs, NEPAD Agency Nigeria CEO, Princess Gloria Akobundu, said Imo State is rich in human and natural resources which can be harnessed towards achieving economic sufficiency as well as the overall development in the state. She added that what the State required was to develop a sustainable plan of action on programmes and activities as well as adopting international best practices in agriculture through the use of modern tools and applying technical know-how in tapping the abundant natural resources.
Prof. Matthews-Njoku informed reporters that the govenment of Imo State will soon host NEPAD Nigeria team during the Good Governance Tour, as all necessary arrangements has been made to seal the collaboration with Imo State and NEPAD Agency Nigeria. Areas of collaboration include poultry, fisheries and aquaculture, cassava farming, ecological programmes and climate change among others.
