The newly appointed Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Edet Sunday Akpan has assumed office. He replaces Mr. Aliyu Bisalla who has been deployed to the Office of Secretary the Government of the Federation.
Mr. Edet Sunday Akpan resumed office on 4th October, 2017. In the presence of the Directors and Heads of Units of the Ministry, the new Permanent secretary who was among the twenty recently appointed Federal Permanent Secretaries, was handed over the Office of the Permanent Secretary by Alhaji Aminu Bissalla.
Before his appointment as a Permanent Secretary, Mr. Edet Sunday Akpan was the Director of Finance and Account, Federal Ministry of Finance.
Speaking shortly after taking over the Office, Mr. Akpan pledged his support for and commitment to work with the management and staff of the Ministry with a view to actualize the mandate of the Ministry.
He reiterated his commitment to pursue the anti-corruption agenda of the Federal Government and its drive to diversify the economy; he therefore, solicited the support of staff and management saying: “Its no longer business as usual in funds management, priorities and due process will be strictly adhered to.”
While he was peaking earlier, the out-going Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Aminu Bissalla highlighted the achievements and challenges of the Ministry under his watch, and commended the management and staff of the Ministry for their cooperation and good working relationship he enjoyed while he worked with them.
