Nigerian Veterinary Doctors Association Honours FCTA in Kano, …Commends it for the employment of Veterinary Doctors.
The National Body of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association, NVMA has honoured the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA for its outstanding contributions to the development of Veterinary Health Services in the FCT.
The Association in its 54th annual Conference taking place in Kano with the theme ” Veterinary Services as tools for advancing Economic Growth , food and National Security” acknowledged the efforts made by the Administration under the dynamic leadership of the Honourable Minister of FCT Muhammad Musa Bello in addressing the age long challenges in the Veterinary Health services sector.
The President of the Nigeria Veterinary Medical Association Dr Godwin Abonyi commended the Administration for the recruitment of Veterinary Doctors, a move which he noted will help to strengthen the capacity of the Secretariat to efficiently perform its responsibilities of delivering standard Veterinary Health Services in the FCT. “in the light of this, I wish to on behalf of the NVMA commend the Honorable Minister of FCT Muhammad Musa Bello for his Giant strides in this direction” Dr Abonyi said.
He lauded the FCT Administration for partnering with the Association in the ongoing anti rabies exercise which is taking place in all the Area Councils of the FCT.
Responding to questions from reporters on the award which was presented to the FCTA by the Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Numan Barau Danbatta, the Secretary for Agric &Rural Development Secretariat Hon Nzekwe Stanley Ifeanyichukwu thanked the NVMA for the award which he stated will further motivate the Administration to do more in the development of the Agricultural sector in its entirety.
He reiterated the readiness of the Administration to continue to implement the necessary policy framework that will ensure the realization and revival of the Agricultural sector.
In his words” our focus in the FCT Administration is to ensure that farmers get the much needed support both in the areas of access to critical Agricultural inputs as well as strengthening our Agric Extension services to ensure that our farmers are well guided towards boosting food production. Gods willing as soon as the budget is released we shall be moving into the field to support our farmers”
On the employment of Veterinary Doctors, Hon Nzekwe said that it was not only aimed at providing gainful employment to youths but also aid in bridging the gap as it pertains to the huge demand for competent Veterinary Health services in the FCT. He added that ” already the new doctors have undergone Orientation and reorientation in line with the agenda of the present Administration predicated on dedication to duty and efficient service delivery.
High points of the occasion was the presentation of awards to various state governments as well as the delivery of lectures by resource persons.
