Ahead of the yuletide season, the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu has ordered immediate deployment of personnel, sniffer dogs, specialised Units such as SWAT, CBRN, Emergency and Rescue Team, Ambulances and Mobile Surveillance Vehicle to every nooks and crannies of the country to beef up security and ensure a hitch free celebrations.
The Commandant General gave this directives, while addressing his management team in his National Headquarters office in Sauka, Abuja.
Gana said that, the deployment is with immediate effect to all strategic locations nationwide, urging all States Commandants to ensure that all black spots, shopping malls, recreation centres, markets, worship centres, hotels and Critical Infrastructure and Assets are well manned and secured.
In the same vein, the Commandant General has cancelled all leave applications of senior officers and directed that those on leave be recalled back to duty during this yuletide season in order to ensure effective deployment, Monitoring and Supervision considering the fact that people who engaged in nefarious activities usually take advantage of festive periods to perpetrate evil when the people will be in the mood of celebration.
He therefore call for synergy among security Agencies at this crucial period and warned the Corps personnel to be civil and diplomatic in the discharge of their duties bearing in mind that anyone fingered in any form of misconduct or compromise shall be dealt with accordingly.
The CG assured Nigerians and residents of a hitch free celebration and charged everyone to stay out of trouble and go about their festive mood in a peaceful manner, as anyone found wanting will face the full wrath of the law.
He called on all Christians to emulate the exemplary qualities of Jesus Christ by being ”Christ like” and showing love to all humanity. He further encouraged all Christians and indeed all Nigerians to use the birth of Jesus Christ to propagate peace and embrace unity irrespective of religious affiliations.
According to him, ”Christmas is a season of joy, peace and love when people should not only eat, drink and merry, in commemoration of the both of Jesus Christ, but should also be a moment for sober reflection. To ”upgrade where necessary and adjust where it is required and to pray for peace of the nation as the country prepare for 2019 general elections.”
He warned that, hoarding, black marketing and diversion of petroleum products during this season in order to sabotage the effort of the government will not be tolerated as the Corps Special Task Force is out to clampdown on any Marketer, filing station owners and their likes
Gana, charged the twelve (12) newly licensed Private Guard Companies to identify and register with the Association of Private Guards Practitioners within their states of operation.
As part of the riot act, he stated that, they should see themselves as grass root security providers, noting that the Corps and other Security Agencies will be relying more on them for information and intelligence report, therefore, there should be synergy and collaboration between them and other Security Agencies of government.
He posited that the Federal Government is keen about their service and intend to engage them the more, therefore, the Corps is working towards standardising the salary structure of the guards for them to be highly motivated in discharging their duty without compromise.
The Commandant General on behalf of the Management Staff, Officers and Men of the NSCDC wishes all Nigerians and all mankind, Merry Christmas and a blessed prosperous New Year 2019. He prayed for peace and unity of the nation especially as the election approaches in the coming year.
