This historic event was orchestrated by Dr. Henry Kojo, a renowned Lagos-based business magnate, as he laid to rest his beloved mother, the matriarch of the Kojo family, Mrs. Victoria Oghenerume Kojo (née Akpochabor), in a ceremony characterized by unparalleled grandeur and heartfelt tributes.
The burial, held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Oginibo, drew an exceptional array of dignitaries, family, friends, and well-wishers from across Nigeria and beyond. Their presence underscores the profound influence and enduring legacy of the late Mrs. Victoria Kojo, whose life of faith, compassion, and service resonated far and wide.

The funeral Mass, officiated by Rev. Fr. Dr. Edmund Emakpor and Rev. Fr. Peter Dedekuma, was a deeply moving service. Accompanied by soul-stirring hymns, the Mass began with a solemn procession, setting the tone for a reflective and celebratory occasion.
In his homily, Fr. Emakpor, drawing from John 14:6, spoke on the theme “Jesus is the Way.” He emphasized the importance of living a life rooted in faith and service, likening the exemplary life of Mrs. Kojo to the teachings of Christ. He remarked:
“Mama Victoria lived a life devoted to God and humanity, leaving a legacy of faith that will serve as a guiding light for generations to come.”

In an emotional speech, Dr. Henry Kojo described his mother as a beacon of strength and a mentor whose values shaped his life. He announced a generous donation to tile the floor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Oginibo, as a memorial to his mother, a gesture supported by friends and well-wishers.
Dr. Kojo expressed his gratitude, stating:
“To the clergy, family, and friends, your overwhelming love and support have made this celebration of Mama’s life truly remarkable. Her legacy will continue to guide us, and we are committed to honoring her memory through acts of service.”
The meticulously organized event, spearheaded by Chief Goddey Ojumah, Chairman of the Burial Planning Committee, showcased the unity and cultural vibrancy of Delta State. Traditional dances, including performances by an Igbo cultural troupe, enriched the event, while sumptuous delicacies added to the grandeur of the reception held at the family playground.
