The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SSAP-SDGs) Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire has called for increased moral sensitization for children and youth in Nigeria to reduce moral decadence and increase love, peace and unity.
She pointed out this when a team from the National Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution paid her courtesy visit in her office.
The SSAP reiterates the need to teach moral values and encourage the youths to be peaceful adding that, a lot of progress can be make with peace but where there is no peace, progress can hardly be attained. She advised that, the institution can work with more organizations, community leaders, and religious leaders pointing out that, Churches, Mosques and community groups should encourage their members to live in peace and harmony with one another.
She urged the media to report positive stories as a way of portraying the country in good light. Pointing out that, no country in the world is without crisis hence, the need to down play negative reportage. She said the office is ready to support and collaborate with the Institute to achieve the desired peace in Nigeria.
Earlier, the Director General of National Institute for Peace and Resolution said, their visit was to partner with the SDGs especially looking at goals 16 and 17 which talked about peace and partnership adding that, they are also in partner with other organizations but will now expand their scope to sensitize more youths on moral values and the need to live in peace and harmony.
He however, seeks for the SSAP’s support to undertake the task ahead.
