The Scout Association of Nigeria Launches “I AM A SCOUT” Membership Drive

The Scout Association of Nigeria (TSAN) has officially launched a nationwide call to action under the banner “I AM A SCOUT,” inviting the next generation of young Nigerians to join the historic global movement.

Led by Chief Commissioner Dr. Zack Ekanola, JP, the organization currently guides a massive movement of over three million scouts across the country. This new initiative aims to expand that reach, equipping more youth with the vital values, hands-on skills, and leadership capabilities needed to navigate the modern world.

Since its establishment in Nigeria in 1916, Scouting has focused on building boys and girls into responsible, self-reliant citizens. The program goes far beyond traditional drills, offering a diverse blend of practical education and outdoor thrill.

The scout chief emphasizes that scout is necessary for adventure, community service, global connections and character development. “The movement is structured to support young Nigerians through every stage of their development, broken down into specific age brackets, 6 to 25” he said.

In a statement introducing the drive, Chief Commissioner Dr. Zack Ekanola emphasized that Scouting is a vital tool for national development. By teaching youth to live by the iconic motto, “Be Prepared,” the association is actively shaping the future leaders of Nigeria’s public and private sectors.

“Scouting equips youths with the values and skills necessary to become responsible citizens. This is a call to action for the youth of Nigeria to join a legacy of leadership.” He held.
