The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has reiterated the need for nursing mothers to embark on exclusive breast feeding as it provides infants with the required nutritional value for healthy growth and proper brain development to become the leaders, innovators and change makers of tomorrow.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu stated this while welcoming the first baby of the year in the Federal Capital Territory, named Johnson Boluwatife who was delivered at 12.03am at the National Hospital Abuja.
On the occasion, Senator Tinubu said the present administration was committed to the welfare of Nigerians and urged nursing mothers to take proper care of their babies’ wellbeing “On our part, the through the renewed hope initiative and collaboration with the UNICEF, we will ensure the registration of all births in order to ensure that the rights of our children are protected”
She also added that the birth of the baby symbolizes hope and new beginning for the nation and urged mothers to nurture them properly “It is a moment not only to celebrate the birth of this baby but also to acknowledge the profound significance that each new life has on us as humans. The birth of a baby reminds us that in the midst of what we face as a community, the cycle of life continues and presents the opportunity for growth and progress”
Mother of the new baby, Eunice Boluwatife thanked the Federal Government for the kind gesture and promised to train the child in the way of the Lord.
The Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, who was on the first Lady’s entourage commended her for providing the impetus for improving the welfare and wellbeing of Nigerian women and the girl child and pledged that her Ministry will continue to align with the renewed hope agenda of the present administration.
Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of gifts to the first baby of the year and other nursing mothers. Other dignitaries who accompanied the first Lady were the Vice President’s wife, Hajia Nana Shettima, Wife of the Minister of Works, Mrs. Racheal Umahi, Mandate Secretary of the FCT on Women Affairs, Mrs Adedayo Benjamins-Laniyi the Chief Medical Director of National Hospital, Dr. Mahmud Raji, top management of the Women Affairs Ministry and other government officials.
